Chad Due & Steven Hartson Win Chi-Town Shootout
Leisure Hours Raceway hosted a combined 340 entries at the 2012 Chi-Town Shootout. Factory drivers and skilled privateers from all over the country descended upon the Joliet, IL facility to battle it out for a class win.
In 4WD Modified Buggy, Associated/Reedy/LRP driver Chad Due took the overall TQ. In the main, Chad had a slight bobble a couple laps into the race and that allowed Associated/LRP/Reedy teammate Steven Hartson to get by. Steven used brilliant driving and calm, consistent laps to take the win by small 2-second margin. Taking home a respectable 3rd and completing the Associated/Reedy podium sweep was Michael Paige.
Reedy factory driver Chad Due did not fare as well as expected in 2WD Modified Buggy qualifying. For some, fifth on the grid means a slim chance for a podium finish. But not for Chad! Patience and a never-say-die attitude allowed Chad and his Sonic-powered B4.1 to steadily move through the pack. Once in second, Due pressured the leader into a mistake and never looked back to take the prestigious class win.
